A Memorial Day Memory

leejohndrowteamToday was Memorial Day. The remembrance of those killed in action serving our country.

I took my grand kids to the parade in Keene. As the flags went by Jacob (My young grandson) stood there with his hand over his heart. My dad, my grandfather would have been proud. He never had to be asked. We sat there and clapped for those who had served. Our country. Our history. Friends showed up and watched with us.

We walked the mile home and they came over bringing me a coffee. We talked of God and His goodness. Then we attended an annual family barbecue. Church friends. Food, fellowship. One man read in remembrance of those who had served and gone. Meanwhile veterans stood there.

All day I felt a heaviness. That my children and my grandchildren would remember those who died serving their country. We made history today as we honored those killed dying for what they believed in.

Will my family make history going forward?
