Some Of My Favorite Firsts

leejohndrowteamTomorrow will be the birthday of my father. He died in 1998. A lot of my firsts were when he was around. My first steps. My first fall. My first bike. My first car. I miss him more now than I did when he first passed away.

A lot of us have a history of firsts.

I thought I might share some of mine. So here is a short list of some of my firsts in my life.

  • First place I lived-Orange Street, New Haven Connecticut
  • First tree house-Raymond Court, East Haven Connecticut-(my first bee sting and a twisted ankle…tree house fall!
  • First bicycle-Columbia, incurred my first dog bite while riding it.
  • First church attended-an Episcopal church in East Haven Connecticut. (Got a couple of good attendance pins there.)
  • First doctor-Dr. Harrison, why, she even made house calls!
  • First animal-Bonnie the barking beagle!
  • First death-that would be my grandmother, Gunter.
  • First car-my first car was a 1936 Chevrolet Master Deluxe for $50. (One of the few Chevys I ever owned.)
  • First school attended-Highland School in East Haven Connecticut.
  • First teacher-that would be my kindergarten teacher, Miss Silverman.
  • First girlfriend-that would be a second grade crush on a girl named Marcia.

Now I listed off those first to give you an idea of what is history. I imagine if you quizzed one of them about those “firsts” they would only get one or two. So, in part this is for them as much as it is for you.

History. Legacy. Ancestry and the generations.

I have a heart to see history written, recorded and shared. I wonder if you might be one of those folks yourself. You want your child to know the day they took their first crawl, step or fall. My desire is to assemble a lot of history that our families can participate in here at “Your Story Goes Here”.

Maybe you want to write about your first today.
